Cougar Bites
The season is officially over and I’m not entirely sure how to cope. Sure, there is still college football happening, but the BCS has created such a lackluster slate of big name games that its hard to get excited. USC and Illinois? Really? There are still some interesting things happening in BYU football, so lets get started:
-Bryan Kehl was invited to the Hula Bowl and East West Shrine Bowl, two of the Senior Bowls. He decided to go to the East West Shrine game in Houston before he begins preparation for the Combine. Kehl can really help his chances in the draft with a strong performance. His numbers should really open some eyes in February.
-All-American JC Safety Andrew Rich (Snow College) has decided to walk-on at BYU. This is actually some of the most exciting recruiting news to hear this season. As a preferred walk-on, Rich gets all the benefits of a scholarship athlete (unlike a regular walk-on) sans the scholarship. When a scholarship does open up, he will be one of the first in line to get one. BYU lost at least 2 (probably 3) of its top safeties to graduation this season (Gooch, Hodgkiss and likely Gabriel) so this could be an immediate impact for BYU. He should be at BYU for winter, spring camp and summer conditioning, so look for him to be in the mix next season.
-The MWC is 3-0 right now in Bowls (Utah beat Navy, BYU beat UCLA, New Mexico beat Nevada) and has 2 more showdowns left with TCU vs. Houston in the Texas Bowl (Dec. 28th) and Air Force vs. Cal in the Armed Forces Bowl (Dec. 31st.) At this point, rivalries and conference bitterness should be put aside as the more wins the conference can rack up in the bowl season, the better BYU’s winning streak looks.
-15 BYU players have played their last game in the Cougar uniform. We will recap their careers and how their loss impacts the team in the coming week and what the pro-potential might be, but a heartfelt thanks to each and every one of them for their blood, sweat and tears to make us proud to be BYU fans.

Nice info. The lull of football news has indeed returned. But, at least signing day is in a month or so and then spring ball and then only four months until Fall Camp. Anyone have any info on who will be back from missions and who will be leaving to serve by next season?
Did you realize that BYU also has a basketball team that is ranked in the top 20? Are you only about football? The football season is OVER so lets get some basketball talk going?!?!?!?!
L. Hatch while basketball is in full swing and football is essentially over. Basketball for most does not get interesting until February, while football is a topic that can be discussed year round. I personally am following hoops right now but football is king
