BYU fans must set the tone vs. Air Force

As much as we at Cougar Legion love to talk X’s and O’s, matchups and projections, one of our main goals is to try and be a positive voice for the improvement of BYU’s fan culture. I wanted to take advantage of the chance today to sound a call for BYU fans to bring their A-game tomorrow because, given the circumstances, our team will need us a little bit more than usual.

Cougar Bites

A lot of interesting things are happening on the team that I can’t figure out how to fit them all together, so this will be a collection of snippets:

-New kicker? Probably not, but it looks like BYU is adding some depth after asking Nate Killpack, the placekicker from Orem High last year, to try out. He did a fine job, but looks like Brian Smith or Mitch Payne will likely keep their jobs for the time being. Continue Reading »

On the Road with Cruiser: The Good News

Lists of BYU’s woes can be found on nearly every football site on the net. Some of them go on for pages. But, believe it or not, there are some exciting positives emerging after last week’s loss. So, if we can take a break from our collective commiserating, let’s take a look at some successes. Thank you, Tulsa

BYU’s loss to Tulsa was embarrassing, no doubt about that. I, like scores of fans, had a massive loss-hangover for the next couple of days. The clarity of hindsight cast a bright light onto the BYU’s warts hidden by inflated expectations and an inaccurate perception of BYU’s performance in its first two games. Yet, hindsight may prove that this bitter defeat was a turning point not just for this season, but for BYU’s long-term fortunes. Continue Reading »

BYU vs Tulsa: Does the pain stop?

On August 3rd, I predicted that BYU would be undefeated at home and finish the season with a 9-3 record. I still stand by those predictions (and the others) and haven’t subscribed to the sinking ship mentality quite yet.
